200 Miles on a bicycle?!?!? What is this all about?

The Pan-Mass Challenge is a 2-day 200-mile charity bike ride that has raised $270 million in donations for the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Every August, thousands of riders, fueled by a love of cycling and hope that one day, they will see a world free from cancer trek from Sturbridge to Provincetown, MA. As a former volunteer, employee, and third-year rider, I have seen the unbelievable work that is being done at Dana-Farber. The Pan-Mass Challenge is the largest source of donations for the groundbreaking research that happens every day. Please watch my fundraising video to the right, and be excited that your donation, whether large or small, will make a difference in the lives of others.

Please feel free to donate, tell a friend to donate, and post links to this site on your favorite social networks. The more we raise together, the closer we are to a world without cancer.

Why I am doing this and why you should get involved.

The reasons are numerous. First and foremost, like so many others, I lost someone very close to me to cancer. My grandfather, Rudolph Demers, lost his battle with cancer eight years ago on Christmas Eve. He was a hard-working machinist and his family was the most important thing in his life. He was my role model and it is in his honor that I ride the Pan- Mass Challenge to raise money for cancer research.

The second reason I ride is a little bit selfish, but allow me to indulge you. The thing is, cancer doesn’t care whether you are a world-class athlete who is in top health, or if you are a bit of a couch potato. It doesn’t care if you are newborn or elderly. This disease can affect anyone. Until there is a cure, we are all at risk. Being the control freak that I am, I can’t just sit on the sidelines and let that happen. I might not be a scientist or a doctor, but I can make a difference and so can you... Donate now!

Thanks for your support!
